So you’ve made it through all of my How To Use Gimp For Beginners lessons, you can do my Gimp Zombie Tutorial without even turning your monitor on, and you’ve now moved on to making your own works of photo-editing art with Gimp. Now what? You have this wonderful piece of art to share with everyone online, use as a wallpaper on your desktop, and you’ve made more Google + banners then you know what to do with. Here is a list of 5 cool things that you can do with your gimped masterpiece.

1.) A Custom Mug

Ah the coffee mug.  You carry it around work all day, it sits on your desk faithfully keeping your coffee warm (for a little bit at least!), and it’s always ready to take on your next sip.  These are a part of many of our daily routines, so why not make a coffee mug that you really like, and is yours?  Surely you’ve seen the coffee mugs that are floating around with photos of the owner’s kid on it. These mugs are pretty common, but with your knowledge of how to use Gimp, you can come up with some really creative ways to make your coffee mug stand out.  In fact, you can print on more than just the “regular ol’ mug,” you can also print on tea tumblers, travel mugs, coffee mug sets, even beer steins!

• design a fake corporate logo using Gimp, make it funny! Have fun with it.
• type your favorite quote and dress it up with gimp.
• Draw up a goofy mustache on your mug.  (it’s actually quite humorous.)

2.) Custom Flip Flops

Summer is coming up, which means the time to bust out the flip flops is near.  Who wants to wear blue flipflops when you can wear flipflops that flaunt your fancy artwork (now known as fancy footwork.)  This is something I haven’t seen before, but you can print whatever you want on your flip-flops.  Aside from the fact that you can print someone’s face to step on hundreds of times a day, there is also a more practical take on this, too.

• Print the words “left” and “right” on your kid’s flip flops to help them learn the difference (just be sure to put them on the right feet!)
• Create abstract colors to make a cool design
• Print a set of feet on them.
• Create a design to make your flip flops look like surfboards

A bag is always there to offer us a helping hand, always ready to help us carry our lunch to and from work, our groceries into our house, and our clothes to a vacation.  Bags are everywhere, coming in all shapes and sizes imaginable.  There is an outer surface on bags, and this surface demands your artistic goodness!  Of course, outside of the artistic side, the personalization opportunities are apparent as well.

• If you have children, put their names on the bag so they don’t lose it at school.  this is especially cool for the sporty kids if you use a gym bag.
• Put the face of a cartoon character on the side.

At the age of 24 years old, I can honestly say that my walls would still be white, and empty were it not for my girlfriend’s major in art.  I’m just too picky to justify purchasing art on canvas.  One day it occurred to me – why not take my favorite photos and make them into a canvas for my place?  You can put whatever you want, after all, it’s your design.  What better a way to show off what you have done?  More so, you can match the colors of your photos to best-fit your room!

Now this is cool. You can print your work on metal.  Why is that cool?  Because this isn’t your common sheet of easily-rusted carbon steel, no, this is aluminum.  For those who don’t know, this stuff simply doesn’t rust. Why is that cool?  because now you have the ability to print something for outside.
